About the Cleanup Event
The International Coastal Cleanup was founded by the Ocean Conservancy in 1986 and has inspired millions of volunteers, as well as industry players the world over to take action by removing and recording trash during our International Coastal Cleanup. This event has been one of Ocean Conservancy’s hallmarks, growing from 12 sites along the Texas coast to more than 6,000+ sites in more than 150 countries.
Guam first joined the Ocean Conservancy in this worldwide effort to prevent pollution with three sites: Ylig Bay, Agat Shore, and Dungca’s Beach, with only 450 volunteers. Guam is now in its 32nd year with over 25 sites and over 4,000 volunteers collecting several tons of trash from Guam’s beaches.
This event is voluntarily led by the Bureau of Statistics and Plans, Guam Coastal Management Program and is a whole-island effort with volunteers from federal agencies and local government agencies, private businesses and non-profit organizations, and many individual volunteers.
The 32nd Annual Guam International Coastal Cleanup will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026
To improve the volunteer experience, we require all volunteers to pre-register for the event through our Eventbrite ticketing website. There is NO on-site registration on the day of the event. The number of tickets for each site will be capped based on the severity of trash in the area and the number of volunteers needed for each site. In cooperation with the Guam Department of Education (GDOE), students can earn valuable service-learning hours for participating.
Site Locations: Various Locations (select site location on the registration page). You must pre-register for the site you choose to volunteer for through the Eventbrite ticketing.
Registered volunteers receive gloves and trash bags upon check-in. Minors registered under a group must be accompanied by their registered chaperones to participate and receive supplies.
Show time/Check-in: 6:30 am (For most sites).
Go time: 7:00 am

GET THE CLEAN SWELL APP
GICC 2026 encourages all participants to use the Clean Swell app to record each item of trash collected, which helps scientists and advocates around the world tackle ocean trash at a global scale.
First, download the Clean Swell app on your iPhone or Android device. Next, open Clean Swell and “Start a New Cleanup” and name the cleanup up “GUAM-ICC” The data you collect will instantaneously upload to Ocean Conservancy’s global ocean trash database. Anytime, anywhere, you can use Clean Swell to see the impact you’ve had on our ocean and get involved in the fight for trash-free seas.
