A roadmap to a prosperous economy, healthy environment, and thriving island culture for present and future generations of Guam.
On December 1, 2020, Public Law 35-110 was passed. This law amended §§ 1203, 1206, 1209(H), 1210, 1211, And 1214 Of Article 2, Chapter 1, Title 5, Guam Code Annotated, Relative to renewing the Guam Comprehensive Development Plan to encompass the principles of sustainability. This plan will be called the Guåhan 2050 Sustainability Plan (GSP2050). This plan is important for meeting the needs of current and future residents of the island. The plan will be a foundation for a strong and equitable economy. It should assure affordable housing, clean water, reliable power, and well-maintained roads and highways. The plan should also protect the natural resources and beauty of Guam, assuring public open space, shoreline access, and diverse recreational opportunities. And the plan must support the preservation of the CHamoru culture, and promote vibrant village life. Above all, it should be a roadmap for the people of Guam to secure prosperity and promote public health and safety in the face of changing global climate. The plan must sustain Guåhan’s rich culture and environment, across all of its villages, for present and future generations. The Government of Guam is seeking the public’s input, so that the Government can align this plan with the public’s needs and priorities through 2050. See “How You Can Contribute” below to learn more and participate.
